SheTrades in the Commonwealth – Introductory Workshop

The SheTrades in the Commonwealth project is funded by the UK Department for International
Development (DFID) and aims to increase economic growth and job creation in Commonwealth
countries by enabling the increased participation of women-owned businesses in international trade.
Objectives
This introductory event is two pronged. Firstly, it aims to give the project stakeholders and participants
an overview of the project and its goals and activities to be undertaken as well as hearing from
participants about the key issues and challenges they face in supporting businesses access and compete
in the textile and apparel global market. Secondly, it will serve as an intensive and practical bootcamp
for export ready women owned businesses.
At the end of the event, the participants will:
1. Understand the goals and objectives of the SheTrades Commonwealth project;
2. Understand the textile and apparel global market place and segments.
3. Understand what is competitiveness and the role of exports for Women owned businesses
(WOBs – SMEs);
Target audience
Export ready WOBs – SMEs, working in the textiles and apparel and services
sectors, sector specific Business Support Organizations (BSOs), private sector companies and
government representatives.

1. Log in to your SheTrades in the Commonwealth account;
2. Click on the Capacity Building Tab on top of your homepage and click on the link to register next to “Workshop in Nigeria”.
