The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) has formalized a strategic partnership with Jumia Nigeria to expand digital market access for Nigerian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).

The partnership was solidified in Lagos with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by the Executive Director/CEO of NEPC, Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, and the Head of Operations at Jumia Nigeria, Mr. Nicholas Obasigie.

Boosting Non-Oil Exports Through E-Commerce

This collaboration directly builds on the ongoing success of NEPC’s Digital/E-Commerce Export Promotion Program. To date, 70 Nigerian SMEs have already been successfully onboarded onto the Jumia Marketplace, giving them immediate access to a broader consumer base.

Under this new agreement, NEPC will continue to support export-ready businesses by:

  • Strengthening their digital trade capabilities.
  • Improving product visibility and online listings.
  • Enhancing branding strategies for international appeal.
  • Connecting local entrepreneurs with wider regional and global markets.

Driving Economic Diversification

Speaking on the impact of the initiative, Mrs. Nonye Ayeni emphasized that this partnership is a practical step toward building a more competitive non-oil export sector. By empowering local entrepreneurs and leveraging e-commerce, the initiative aims to create sustainable employment and accelerate Nigeria’s economic diversification.

“At NEPC, we remain deeply committed to creating opportunities that translate into measurable, real-world outcomes for Nigerian exporters,” Mrs. Ayeni stated.
