More youths benefit from NEPC Training

February 4, 2019

The NEPC in collaboration with Femi bags  and the Oyo State Government has successfully trained and graduated 25 more youths on the production of leather products. This is in continuation of Councils strategy to boost the non-oil exports sector.

The Council partnered with FemiHandBags to engage youths in an intensive two-week capacity workshop in the area of manufacturing handbags, corporate gifts, wallets and other leather items to enhance the development of the sector for export. The programme is designed to fill a gap, by training Nigerians to produce high quality bags that are of export standard.

This is the Fourth  batch of trainees on leather production to be graduated under this partnership, bringing the number of trained youths to more than 100.  The programme which was held in Ibadan also aims to create job opportunities for the unemployed, strengthening the sector for domestic production and eventually exports.

The trainees were excited at the opportunities the training provided them with and one of them Abibat ogunyemi, who was a dealer in bags said the training would enable her transition from being and importer of bags to an exporter of finished leather bags.
